Actually, there is a vegan burger company called Impossible Foods that actually developed a transgenic yeast to produce Leghemoglobin, aka soy blood, which they add to their 100% plant-based burgers to make them extra "beefy" and bloody to the point they taste more like real beef burgers than the half- textured vegetable protein/half beef fare at McDonalds and Whitecastle. I feel it would be cool though if the plant/yeast blood is offered in beverage form.
And, as evidenced by new meat labelling laws in France and Missouri, these new ultra-realistic plant meats are giving livestock producers nightmares!
