Commission forI usually don't like this look, cartoony characters with a semi-realistic background. But it will have to do.
This picture took forever, cause I stuck on that tree in the foreground. I really couldn't figure out what style to have on the background and nothing were working T_T.
But then I just sat down today and just started painted it out from scratch added some texture and it was done. And then the rest of the background just followed. Some days it just comes to ya I guess.

Oh my gosh I can't remember. I drew this like 3 years ago. But I know it was a combination of a photo of a tree and som ordinary photoshop brushes, and then I shaped it with the shading pretty much.

You actually do a really good job of blending two very different styles here! The tree I think has a sharp enough edge that it doesn't contrast too much with the characters outlines. And the rest of the background being more soft or even blurry actually helps put more focus on the two characters.
It looks great! Your really talented at coming up with really organic poses with two characters interacting with each other.

I love the way DJ hugs you... Like he's holding the only treasure he has and he is going to protect it with his life. But also there is an innocent look in their eyes like they believe there is nothing going to harm them... It's one of the best emotionally expressed images I've seen lately... :3
