A small effort to show patriotism and faith on being a Filipino, i made a stamp using the Philippine flag as the background image and added "Proud to be Pinoy." I posted some things on my blog about my belief, my ways and my love for my country.Please Do NOT hotlink this stamp to your journals, shoutboard, webcam or anywhere on a non-DeviantArt website. If you want them to be in your site, you can download this image and remember to put credit on where you found this image.

I dont mean to be rude I'm just a little confused, why would you be proud of your nationality? Whether you're a Filipino or Canadian or French or whatever. It just confuses me because it's that you just happened to be born in that country, nothing else. I mean there's nothing wrong with being Filipino of course but it doesn't make sense to me to be proud of it...

I canβt speak for everybody obviously, butΒ I'll try to explain this to you as I see it.Β We have an extreme case of patriotism and nationalism.
The filipino has endured a long history of being conquered/occupied by the spaniards, japanese, and americans. In history, the people in the Philippines have fought and won to be free. We love our country; the sites, the food, and our hospitality. We fight for our own existence where most areΒ mistaken for other Asian nationalities (occasionally Hispanic ones too), and dealt with lots of other country not knowing what or where the Philippines is.Β Some have argued that we don't look asian enough. We want Philippines to be recognized and that is something to be proud of, even how small it is. We will carry our Filipino lineage every single time.
In actuality, it's a struggle; "love your own" and "keep the spirit ofΒ comradery" as Filipinos. If we meet other Filipinos outside the country, we have this sense of not being alone and will try to help out each other. ButΒ I don't think Filipinos are more proud than many other country. Most of us are just loud and proud of their nationality.
