How do you color O_O

Do you have a specific question about how I color? I just start off with lineart, put all base colors on one layer, add another layer or two in Overlay or Color Dodge or Multiply mode for color altering and shading and lighting, then create a layer for painting on top of that to refine everything.

I try to add shading to my drawings to give it a more "realistic" look, but they look like people who have the color orange for their skin. It's really weird.

Try looking up skin tutorials (www.deviantart.com/art/SKIN-a-… for example) and looking at photographs and reality for reference. A lot of the time, the color you use for shading isn't just a darker/more saturated version of the base color; it tends to be warmer or cooler depending on the environment, and it could be a different color altogether with the right lighting.

Also, you can learn from the way other people paint skin. If you find a painting you like, save it and open it up in whatever drawing program you use, and use a color picker to see exactly which shades the artist used. It's a much more hands-on approach to learning how to use colors, in general.

Thank you so much for the advice. I was able to create my first drawing that didn't look like it had a base put on. I appreciate the help so much!
