do you draw in pencil, then paint, then ink your drawing? or do you pencil, pen then paint? I find it harder to ink on my drawings after watercolor is already on the paper, even after it dries.... but then if I paint on top of the ink, well then theres color on the ink and its not as black anymore. It's such a predicament...

This is really pretty. I heart it. Its really nice and the fire fly in a jar was a good addition. The child im guessing is about four or five? Either way its really nice, and it must have taken AGES to draw those leaves..

Thanks.
Yeah, those leaves took a while but they were kinda fun to draw.

very, very rich linework, I love it. It's also worth of mention the coloring, the hues are very complementary and make up for a very interesting atmosphere. It's a bit blurry on the full view, but it's still a great work, keep it up

I don't have access to a scanner so taking pictures with a digital camera is my only choice and sadly, it isn't very complimenting of the drawings most of the time. However, I thank you very much for you kind comment because I really like this image as well - in a way, it represents who I am and what I do and how I do it.

the colours go together very well, and there is an overall warm feel to this. it kind of reminds me of the band eisley.

I love this. It's so simplistic and it reminds me of a child's book. (Don't take that the wrong way.) I love it.

OMG real, solid, touch-it-with-your-hands art from Lyesmith! Excellent.
Do you sketch it with the pen first, and then watercolor over it?

Lyesmith In reply to Stykera [2005-10-09 23:22:57 +0000 UTC]
Yes. Yes it is.
This is actually one of the shorter traditional works I've done, about 8-9 hours spent on it. And it's pretty much done exactly like your Christmas present.
I sketched it with a pencil, outlined with a pen, watercoloured, used the pen again, watercoloured again and now I have to do some minor pen work for the last time. There won't be much change in the picture though, not major anyway.
I was actually going to upload the photo with the picture taped to the board. I don't know if I should have. Maybe it'd look better.

More pen on the water, added leaves near the girl's face to make it stand out, dark pink/brown colours on her legs and back, darkened water plants... [link]
