Description

Hello dear crafty friends!!! Here is a pic of my latest project!!!

Before:
(excuse the depressed look on my face, I really hated my new haircut)

It's a thrifted 15yo dress (for probably 2€)

It had really nice pockets with a really nice finish, however the bodice was really not great, the finish was almost inexistent and of course, it was sewn for a kid body type.
And even though my breasts are pretty small, it didn't fit at all.

The process

I decided to seperate the skirt from the bodice, gather it more so it would fit my waist and create a waist band from the bodice fabric.
With the remaining fabric I made a matching bow to wear in my hair ^^ (isn't that cuuuuuuute? )

I think I spent more time seam ripping than sewing on this project because... you know... I suck
Naw, just kidding, I'm still to this, so I just made a bunch of mistakes hehehe.
In the end it's wearable, though I'm not pretty fond of the inside of my new garnment.
Also, the button holes are not... resistant enough in my opinion, I'm affraid it will snap at any moment... mmm

So, what do you think? Before? Or after?

Bonus unedited shots
(it was raining btw, unlucky)

I'd have to disagree though ^^
we all have different bodies, and provided the chosen dress doesn't fit yours, you can quickly look like a potato sack ^^"

I really like how it came out.

The after version is certainly better, though both versions of the dresses are cute in my opinion. (I am just happily obsessed with florals.

florals are the best, right????

the main problem with the first version is that it wasn't fitted. too much room around the waist and no room whatsoever for the bust
plus the neckline was pretty boring, maybe if I added a cute collar... mmmmmm, or some extra ruffles, but I would have cut the dress shorter for that...
what made it look even more appealing in the after version is that I gathered the skirt more than it was before, since I fitted the waistband to my actual waist ^^
I think... heheh

I adore those frilly 50's style tulle skirts too.

As somewhat plain as the dress appeared in the first photo, you made it look that much prettier.

It's a smile!!! I can't believe it Luala can smile

I admire your courage to buy such dress at all. I wouldn't have a vision with this one. And I also re-used (sewn) many clothing items.
Before it looked like you're a kid who was forced to wear this dress by her mother now it's like you follow fashion trends and want to be unique and have your own style.

And you even took the photo in such a wonderful place. The right part of the background looks like the one I made for "the boy"

hahahahah indeed
I just look at the fabric to be honest
and if the dress construction is not too complex
I'm also looking for "pratice" items. Here for ex, the fabric isn't as new, but it's a good excuse to try and refashion it. At least if I fail, it's ok.
Plus, at the waist it had a wrole that's been sewn closed, so I knew I had to take the bodice off.

If you like refashions, I can share with you some cool youtube channels:

They inspire me a lot.

I agree, the background seems similar! I would have loved having the tree house!!!!

thank you!!!

it's very recent. after watching at least 100youtube videos about how to transform clothes and getting a tiny sewing mashine
I decided I'd do it ^^
I love re-purpose stuff people would normally throw away
I want to take care of our planet ^^
