Personality/Bio: Janus is an imposing and quiet stallion commonly found studying the sky, researching Equestria and its history, conducting experiments and educating himself on princely etiquette. He's lived in Canterlot his entire life, and he thrives under a self regulated and strict routine. Ever since he was small, it was clear that Janus would struggle socially. Janus has difficulty reading body language and facial expression, sarcasm and metaphor, and can quickly become overwhelmed and confused by his surroundings. Because socialization stresses him to defensive bursts of power, he mostly keeps to himself in the castle. He feels comfortable around only a few ponies, including his loving and understanding parents.
He and Celestia never saw eye-to-eye. For some reason, since his birth, she's been wary of him and Janus is genuinely concerned for how they will function as partnering rulers in the future. Despite this, his subjects seem to enjoy him during the few moments they interact. He is not afraid of ruling, but he realizes he has a lot to learn before he ascends to the throne. Most of all, he wants others to feel happy with him, especially Celestia, so he works hard to be the best Prince he can be.
Nightingale acts as his personal trainer, keeping him physically fit and knowledgeable in physical self defense, should his magic be impaired. These two have a trusting relationship, and Janus loves these times most because he just relax and follow directions he respects. Afterward they always eat fruit together, which is actually a batpony ceremony to honor a day's hard work, and to build a camaraderie between ponies. Luna joins in for these meals whenever she has time. Janus relies heavily on his parents' companionship.
Janus earned his cutie mark the day that he realized the ghostly whispers in his head came from the stars themselves. They would foretell many events, such as coming storms, infrastructure failures and potential threats to the city. Twilight Sparkle often asks him what spell he uses to make these predictions, but he always reminds her that it's just the stars. Nothing more. Princess Luna chalks these predictions up to his understanding of mathematics.

Fun Facts:

-In his free time, he goes on nightly flights around Equestria. Often he wishes he had his mother's power of seeing other ponies' dreams.

-He was born with a thick mane, and covered with soft downy feathers. His parents loved to cuddle him because he was just so darn soft.

-Janus is good friends with Clarabelle, whom he finds captivating in her tiny stature, intelligence and wit. Remarkably, he finds her relaxing.

-Strangers are not allowed to touch him under any conditions, and this personal rule has gotten him into a lot of trouble with friendly diplomats.

-He is the tallest of my NGs, dwarfing the tall-for-a-pegasus Thunder Bird. Naturally one can guess how tiny Clarabelle is compared to him.
