Description
Process HereInvictus by William Ernest Henley
Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll.
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

Very cool man - I've always thought about how to illustrate something from this poem and have always had something very similar to this in mind!

Beautiful poem. I even liked how you broke up the rhythm a bit in the second to last stanza. The drawing is amazing too. I love the warm light coming from the book contending with the soft light of the setting sun behind him.

Thank you! It is a school assignment and we had to paint an illustration to suit the poem. The poem wasn't written by me, it was written by William Ernest Henley
