Description Sadly, the colors in the photo are real - the butterfly was sitting on ashes.. because we burn the fields

In the night
Do you light a lover's fire
Do the ashes of desire for you remain

Emerson, Lake & Palmer song C'est la Vie

Overall

Vision

Originality

Technique

Impact

When I first saw this photo, what I saw was a soldier crawling for his life in the middle of the war. For someone the first impression could be that it's the alegory of fighting for the environment. I feel like that's totally not the point of the photo. I feel like what we should really see is the tragedy of small butterfly that burned his wings by landing on hot ashes. He'll never be able to fly again. It's a sad story but it made a nice opportunity for a beautiful photo. And as I strongly believe, photography is the art of catching single moments. You did that very well.

For those who want more organised critique:
- vision: Well, your vision was definitetly strong in this one. Talking about it is a bit hard because the scene was already there but it's the camera angle, zoom and so on where your imagination can excel at. Strong 4,5 overall.
- originallity: Yeah it's original but I want to save my 4,5 and 5 stars for something mind blowing.
- technique: I'm really struggling when it comes to rating technique when criticising photos. Often I just start from 3,5 (that stands for "properly executed" in my opinion) and go up and down for some things I notice. You get some extra for the great usage of sharpness that gives the photo some amazing depth.
- impact: That's hands down 5, it's really thought-provoking.

Hey there! Thank you for submitting to for feedback!
This is a picture with a lot of contrast, the ashes with the colourful butterfly make this an interesting capture! The depth of field is lovely in this shot as well, it keeps our attention focussed on the butterfly.
I have no suggestions for you today!
I hope this helps, and if you have questions, please ask!

The colors of the butterfly are so intense compare to the BG...maybe there are other fileds where he can find food

There are still parts of the fields which aren't burned, an also the trees which start to bloom - but I was not expecting to find such a beautiful butterfly on an recently burned field - one could still see smoke in some places

Thanks for stopping by

My pleasure

The fact that the ground is dark helps him with warmth probably too
