Hi everyone!Here’s my finished Pokémon piece of the Legendary birds, which really puts my favorite Pokémon, Lugia, in the spotlight.
As an added bonus, this artwork inadvertently turned out to be "Pokémon: The Movie 2000" fanart.

Yeah, I get it. It's just that this and his proportions in general... make him look very bulky and even kinda fat, not webbed. The neck is also too short and wide. It should be thinner under the head. Otherwise, it looks a bit... em... awkward.

I know that about penguins and related creatures. Though Lugia is not a penguin, he's a magical creature. About the Arctic... well, Johto, Lugia's native region, is based on Kansai, a region in Japan. It is closer to the south, actually. And if we are not talking about IRL, then in games he's not sitting in an ice cave. Well, okay, if the artist himself is satisfied, that's good.

I thought the Legendary Birds are Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres... Lugia is, like, their trio master, but he's not technically a bird... he's more of a dragon. The Legendary Diving Beast and Guardian of the Seas. (and, what the heck, somehow psychic/flying type? What? Psychic = seas, water?) And if we take Ho-Oh, (as Lugia is often portrayed with him), it turns out that this is a confrontation between the dragon (Lugia) and the phoenix (Ho-Oh), which is a well-known Chinese myth. And the dragon is also associated with the water element and the phoenix is, obviously, fiery. Pokemon are generally more likely to be based on mythology than on real beasts, for in Japan it is highly revered.
Meh. I don't even like Pokemon that much (due to recent events, i.e. complete disappointment called Sword and Shield). It's just that I came across this piece and was a little shocked by his appearance here, so I wanted to say about that. So personally, I think that these interpretations are closest to the truth... Well, at least I like their look.

To be fair they look weird in the normal Pokemon art style too. Ever since I first saw Lugia I always ask "How tf does he fly using fat flabby arms?" lol
