Description This is a quick study of what I imagine happened to Princess Sorsha's feet during the pig transformation scene in the movie Willow. I'm not sure how she managed to get her boots off but let's pretend she did.

In this case, I chose to take the fusing toes approach that was used when Madmartigan's hands changed into hooves. I tried various combinations of fusing toes and liked this one the best. It seemed the most forced and unnatural, which fit nicely with the overall transformation.

I've said it before, but being transformed into a pig would really suck. Especially if you were as beautiful as Sorsha.

Model is female

Done in Photoshop CS5.

Actually, I believe the big toe would pretty much remain the same.  It's just the other four toes would merge to create the two larger toes for balance.  And I did kinda liked that movie.

The lighting and "mirrored" on the big toes just gave away in which exact places did you paste one toe above another, and where the nails were just mirrored to extend them double. Quite impressive are works of yours, but this one is too obvious in my opinion. I would recomend re-doing it, keep in mind the lighting on the toes and make it not so visible where exactly you jointed together the toes

good work actually. i'm impressed at the merging toes... the nails end smooth, but the meeting between the nails bugs me... but if this was in real-time, it would only be for a minute or two, then they'd be smoother

Nice to see someone else who has seen Willow "I dwell in darkness withou thee and it WENT AWAY?"

Long time fan, first time commenting on your page. I often wondered that I was the only one that made the correlation between feet / hooves and paws. More please! Love your work

Very well rendered - as always!
Personally, I've always viewed hoof transformations into ungulate-style to not necessarily include fusing of toes - as most ungulates like pigs have four toes - the two prominent toes with the hooves that support the weight, and the two back "dewclaw" like toes - like this:
[link]
the middle two toes becoming the bigger toes, the pinkie toe and toe adjacent to the big toe becoming the smaller ones.
And then the big toe (or thumb on the hands) would be lost/absorbed.

Thanks for the comment. I actually view hoof transformations the same way you do, with the swelling middle toes and the reduction and migration of the pinky and index toes. Unfortunately, it doesn't translate as well with photomanipulation as it does on paper. And I hate to just have the big toes just disappear but they look very out of place as they shrivel away.

I tried several variation of foot to hoof transformation before settling on the artwork above. Perhaps I will post them as well.

Regardless of how it might actually happen, I love your take on hooves, particularly when the victim is becoming an even-toed ungulate

Thanks for the comment back! You do some of if not the best photomanipulation transformations - and your attention to detail and texturing is always fantastic.

I hadn't considered the difficulty in the overt resizing and anatomical changes involved between drawing something from scratch vs manipulating an existing photo, but that makes a lot of sense.

Even if they were scrapped ideas, I'd be interested in seeing your other takes on the hoof/foot changes

Thanks so much again - and keep up the great work!

Here's a five-toed ungulate:

Note that "odd-toed" ungulates alive today have either one or three toes.
