Description
This falls under the heading of "more fanart" (also "more of those colors, Lia, it's time to flip to a new sheet of palette paper"). It's for Midwinter Nightingale, by Joan Aiken! The inimitable! I love the Wolves Chronicles, and while nobody is going to beat Gorey for his little potato Dido with a squashy face, I wanted to draw her anyway. Also, while I'm serious about that new sheet of palette paper, I ain't never gonna stop shoving botanicals into the lower-left-hand corner.Watercolor & digital.

Thanks! It surprising more people don't illustrate her work - there's so much and it's so rich!

Whatever grrl, you draw like the world is ending, in a good way. Plus I have stolen your almond eyes in the past.

Nobody can beat Gorey, but I have to say you've made this character wonderfully suspicious looking. And who doesn't live for lower-left-hand corner dwelling botanicals?
If your colors were heavier on the yellow I'd be inclined to say they look like a Wes Anderson movie, but they aren't, so I guess I won't.

You know, I think I'd like to see a live action film with the colors you use. They are all so vibrant

Thank you! I feel like I'm a little too married to these though - I need to not be afraid of blue.

^u^ well I think its wonderful. Though now that I think about I think it would be cool to see your style in a red, white, and blue color palette.

This is a great picture otherwise, but it has one problem in it. I think impression of dept is pretty poor, what also causes the picture look a bit tangled, since all things seem to be on the same level.

Thanks! ^^ Nothing but good old-fashioned rabies-level of fear of letting wet areas touch. Someday I'll figure out how to blend watercolor.
