Description My boyfriends sister recently turned 21 and is a major Rugrats fan, I did this for her birthday - I wanted to change the characters slightly as I figured she could print a pic from the web if she wanted the characters exactly as is ^_^

Nice rendition of the world's bravest babies, their "big sister" of sorts, the toddler terror who torments them, and their dog. The style--as per Spike's look--seems almost Scooby Doo like, which is a plus, since I like that franchise too.

That said, I do think any major fans of the Rugrats/All Grown Up brand would love my theme remix.

Even if Angelica turns him into a flustered "scaredy cat"--as per episode scenes [ [link] ], character dialog...

Chuckerfly

A: Maybe yo--Nah, it couldn't be.

C: What, Angelica? What?

A: Maybe you grow'd out of being cute. And trust me, you weren't all that cute to begin with.

This sequence has Angelica inadverdantly calling Chuckie "cute" and even if she meant it in a mocking manner, the fact that she even considered Chuckie "cute" is enough in and of itself, since one wouldn't think the cheif bane of the redheaded fraidy-cat's existence would dare call him something as sweet as "cute".

Cuffed

C: What do you think it'll be like being stuck together?

A: We'll probably have to do everything together, and we'll probably have to get married.

Besides the marriage bit--which comes back with roles reversed in another episode--there is still the "chained heat" trope, despite the squicky fact of the character ages at the time.

Angelica's Twin

C: It is her.

T: Hi, Ballina. Do you remember us?

A (as her twin): Of course, I do. You're Tommy, Phil and Lil, and that very handsome boy is Chuckie.

C: She remembered my name.

Fast forward to after the charade is done with...

C: Guys, one day I'm going to go up to Milwaukee someday to see Ballina again and when I see her, I'm going to marry her.

A: You can't marry her. I made her up!

The above sequence shows that Angelica can be nice and that Chuckie has been noted to fall for her before, albeit her "acting nice" to get something she thinks she wants.

Art Fair

C: *looking at his red-painted hand, thanks to Phil* Hey, I don't want to play icky, yucky paints.

A: Huh?! You dumb babies! You ruined my picture!

C: Wah! Angelica! It wasn't me!

A: What do you mean? I caught you red handed. You're in big trouble now!

*Chuckie cries and run away, with Angelica running after him*

A: I'll get you...I'll get you Finster. I'll get you. Get back here!

The above sequence shows that even when the others are really to blame for many of the reasons Angelica gets angry, she always pins blame on Chuckie, even when he is not physically involved or even if he is not even present.

But later, we see Angelica showing a nicer side to Chuckie, because she noticed that he was part of why her mother was insistant on making Angelica an artist (in other words, Chuckie was her inspirational muse)...

A: Hi, Chuckie, my "favoritest" pal and new "bestest" assistant.

C: Uh, "sistant"? Wha--what's a "sistant"?

A: It's a helper. You get to help me paint your daddy's den as pretty as my room.

C: You mean, you're not mad about the mess we made in your room?

A: That? No! Don't be silly Chuckie! I wasn't mad. I was "esited".

C: Uh, okay. I guess if you're not mad, then I, I can be your "sistant."

A: You're gonna be "sisting" the "bestest" Chuckie. I'm all coolant. I'm in the van pool. I'm on the hedge.

C: What?

A: Never mind. Just take some paint and play. You know, throw it all over. Come on! Do something!

C: But I don't wanna.

A: This is my "repetition" you're messing with. Now start doing it.

*another chase scene ensues*

Who's Taffy

T: If we can't make Taffy like Taffy, we have to make Angelica like Angelica. Come on! (or something akin to that)

C: Wait! I like "nice" Angelica. Can't we just get a new babysitter?

The above sequence shows that Chuckie again has fallen for Angelica during one of her "nice" routines, but in this case, Angelica would've probably remained nice throughout the episode had the others not misinterpreted Taffy's own depression over her band's break-up and Angelica's nice-ness as the two having switched personalities.

Driving Miss Angelica

C: But Miss Angelica, you ordered me up here.

A: Must you do everything I say? If I told you to go jump off a bridge, would you?

C: Probably.

This sequence shows that even when she treats him like dirt, Chuckie always listens to Angelica, caving into each of her demands, not just because he is scared of her, but also potentially because his boundless optimism allows him to see good in everyone, even Angelica.

The entire concepts behind throwaway characters Megan (Cradle Attraction) and Clark (Pre-School Daze), since the former has Chuckie clearly fall for the bullying type and the latter has Angelica admitting to liking those she can knows she can instill fear into.

Flash forward ten years and we have the spin-off series, with one episode involving Angelica and Susie needing to help someone less fortunate than themselves and Angelica appropriately chooses downtrodden Chuckie for her "project", but when Chuckie adamently declines, no matter how much he wishes to be popular like Angelica and her posse, Angelica pleads at him, asking if she's ever let him down, which triggers a breif flashback sequence. This said sequence shows Angelica and Chuckie ALONE at various stages, with NONE of the other Rugrats--including Susie and Harold, who are BOTH Angelica's age--in sight! In fact, the first one has them on a see-saw (not like with throwaway character Emma in He Saw She Saw), only to have Angelica dump Chuckie on his backside to catch up with the ice cream man. The second scene has them a little older, riding bikes akin to an episode of the original series (Uneasy Rider). The final scene catches up with the present, as it occured just that morning, with Angelica pushing Chuckie aside to get on the bus, only to have the bus shut it door in front of Chuckie's face, resorting to him begging to be let on, not unlike many poor saps who miss the school bus. Despite her torment, Chuckie lets Angelica attempt to make him "cool", which in turn, backfires on the former queen of mean, as it usurps her own position as one of the popular teens, whilst Chuckie takes her place. Luckily for both of them, they find that this arrangement doesn't pan out, since Chuckie realizes that being Chuckie the "glork" is better than alienating his true friends and Angelica realizes the meaning of true friendship in a round-about way whilst also reclaiming her spot as one of the "in-crowd".

In another episode, when Chuckie becomes obsessed with a Yugi-Oh parody card game, the others convince Angelica--as Chuckie's main card supplier, due to her resources--to try and get Chuckie off his craze, especially since it cost Chuckie his father's prized stamp collection. Now, Angelica could've walked away, not caring about the consequences of Chuckie's insane behavior--especially since she and her mother do similarly by living off their cellphones--but instead, she helps Chuckie get Chazz's stamp collection back and also helps him get over his current obsession, only to accidentally trigger a potentially new obsession by episode's end.

Even the films themselves attribute the pairing, for in the first film, youο»Ώ notice that really, Angelica SAVED the babies, for had Dil NOT taken Cynthia, the babies would've been wolf snacks, since Angelica had Spike with her to track down the babies & we all know how Spike saved the gang. If Angelica had went by herself, SHE would've been the target, because she's the eldest & her bright blond hair is a dead give away. Without Spike or Angie, poor Chuckie would've been the target, as he's next eldest & his messy hair gives him away also.

As for the second film, Angelica changes from her typical bad girl routine, again coming toο»Ώ the aid of HER babies, defending them against Coco. Just prior though, Angelica apologized, with Chuckie--in typical fashion--forgiving her for all that's she done & when the Reptar-driving babies were battling Coco's assistant manning the Robosnail suit, there was a cute moment where Angelica was again tossed into the air, but Chuckie "played hero" & saved her by having Reptar's arm catch her.

And when Kimi climbed onto the opposite hand of the giant Reptar robot, I saw it as a metaphor of sorts for the two girls in Chuckie's life, with Kimi becoming his step-sister (and Kira as his step-mother) & ex-tormentor Angelica becoming one of his closest friends...or perhaps something more, if we go by all the various hints.

As to the issue with Harold, the "Johnathan" of the series would be just that, for like her mother, Angelica could have a lackey (Harold) & be married to another (Chuckie).ο»Ώ

Heck, if we must, look at the fact that Angelica started out as mischief unchained, but once her brattiness was exposed as neediness due to her self-absorbed parents, she became a more complex character, which resulted in the taming of the blond bully to the point that all-so-perfect rival Susie pretty much lost her purpose and Harold--like Dil and Kimi in the original series (with Dil as a poop-joke factory that hampered Tommy and Kimi herself as poor female excuse for Tommy)--was just added to further complicate matters in many fan's eyes, since many sites don't even acknowledge Harold until the spin-off, when he was actually seen first as the toddler mediator between Susie and Angelica during the "day in the limelight" episodes that were to be the Pre-School Daze spin-off.

Finally, another testament to the idea's longevity would be that Nick itself practically thrives on similar couples with tension. One other example would be Arnold/Helga, which was also envisioned by Craig Bartlett, who ironically started out as a writer for the world’s bravest babies before commencing upon his own show.

Ain't my stories. The dialog comes from actual series episodes, the comic scans come from the official comics released by Klasky-Csupo for Nick Mag and local newspapers, and all those comments I made in regards to the dialog presented can actually be seen as proven if one looks at the franchise critically. XD
