Some recent owl studies I did this week 🦉 You can see the process for these up on my Instagram!

I find barn owls in particular to be quite majestic—I just adore the subtle variety of textures and hues in their feathers. I haven’t seen too many owls in my lifetime, but it’s fun to discover them through my work! And man, when they squint those big beautiful eyes if theirs?? UGHH I just melt inside 😭❤️ Real talk though, that’s the best way one could define my artwork as of late: melty lmao

Doing this set also made me realize how much I tend to default to a particular set of colors in my paintings, but I just loooooveeee that mix of hazy green with saturated red and purple tones. At the very least, identifying a weakness is the first step to improving my skillset! Makes it all the more engaging tackling new subjects with specific goals in mind. As I transition into new milestones, the easier I find it to objectively critique my art in a way that doesn’t devastate my confidence.
