Hmmm, first things first:
I really really like the outfit, it's very well-made and gives off a very different feeling as opposed to traditional, Disney-inspired "little mermaids": the fishnet in particular is a nice touch that adds a more "rugged" sensation and a stronger character impression, while instead the shells on the headpiece are a little too big for my tastes...
another thing I would have avoided is the red nail polish... to create contrast with al the green I'd rather see more red accessories like that bracelet, instead.
The flaming red hair does the rest, after all~
The facial make-up is great in every single little detail, I love it and I also like the angle of the photo, it makes it look like the eye of the observer is a person who was walking by the shore and sees the mermaid...
...the only thing I don't like much in that department is maybe the fact that the tip of the fin is cut off... a little bit higher would have been better, for my tastes, but other than that is a great photo.

I remember reading a cover story for the American edition of the magazine, GQ,on Chris Evans-the star of Captain America:The First Avenger and the upcoming Super Hero ensemble film,The Avengers.In the cover story,his mother said that even though Evans is 30(at the time,the cover story was a year ago,Evans should be turning 31 this year),he knows all the lyrics to songs from The Little Mermiad.I`m 30 and I love Disney`s The Little Mermaid!It really came from that period where they were making classic traditional animated movies that appealed to people of all ages and demographs.Now it feels like Pixar is more really occupying that role of making those kinds of movies for Disney.
I like this picture and you make for a beautiful real-world Ariel,the long,curly red hair is beautiful. I like the touch of sea shells as accessories and the crown of sea-shells(appropriate,since Ariel is supposed to be a Princess,if I`m not mistaken) and the bracelets and beads all lend to this very organic and yes,more rugged feel(which would have made sense for The Dinsey movie if Disney had gone in that direction for their potrayal of Ariel,since Ariel spends most of her time underwater).
The fishnet is an interesting touch and I think maybe if some digital computer-work had done been for the mermaid fish-tail and to make it look like there`s an ocean in the background, it could have looked a little more real.But other than those minor points of critique(which are meant to be positive and helpful and not mean,mean-spirited or negative and I think it`s great that not only are you able to take constructive criticism but that you request it),I happen to like this photograph and think it`s a beautiful piece of art!
