Description I drew one of my fairy oc's.

So sometimes Phillis begs Calla to come for walks with her at the day but because calla usually comes out at night she is very sensitive to the sun.So when she does come she brings her umbrella, she also thinks that's its a good way to watch after Phillis because of the massive burns she had when she found her.

HEyaaaa, Im from ProjectComment   and Im here to give some tips and advice that I hope could help you in the near future^^

Cute occc, her design reminded me a bit like Marceline. In the first season if AT, marceline's design kinda looks like this. Your color scheme suits the character a lot. And I like the details you added in the her hair, putting more hairlines than most people would^^ Her ears looks so cute btw

Now, there are certain things I think u can use to improve, like her eyes. The other one is slightly bigger. It's really hard to draw eyes, equal in size,it's okay to practice more and more. An easier method is by copying the other eye, and then flip it, tho it's more like a hack. And also add some details around the eyes. Since most people tend to focus more on the eyes. Add highlights, or try experimenting different colors when drawing eyes. It gives a huge difference on your piece
Same rule applied with the rest of your piece, add shadows around specific areas, since she's under an umbrella, apply shadow all over her body, but not completely, add lighting to areas where the shadow is not hit. This will give a more sense of realism to your piece^^.
Do experiment with colors, using only purple is nice, but it's rather blend. Try adding maybe a hint of blue or red, or maybe pink if your bold enough to try. It gives more vibrant to your piece. Lastly the anatomy and pose of ur piece, I don't usually comment on these since it depends on the person's style of course. Your only problem is just the proportions of her eyes and also her fingers. Hands are really hard to draw and that's okay, you even added some blushes around her finger.
Add blushes around her nose and chick to make her look alive, tho since she's a vampire, I dont think there's a need for it
Hope this helps and keep on imrovinggg

hey um,thank you for your critique. But i need to correct you on some things. Her eyes are made like this on purpose,if you see the reference i sent on the 1s critque you'll see that she's not supposed to be a human.

Also calla isn't a vampire she's an insect.

Hi there Koyowl, I'm EmeraldOverlord, I'm from www.deviantart.com/projectcomm… for a little review and critique! Take my words if you wanna!

Reading the previous reply, I'm going acknowledge that the eyes are supposed to resemble an insect. As she isn't fully a humanoid.(I read ahead of time before I scribble down my critique.) I do like the colors you chose as they highlight her uniqueness and help her stand out compared to other characters attempting to do a hybrid species. The features like the ears are rather pretty, I do admire the dots you drew around them. They look so unique compared to the other characters I've seen on DA.

On the other hand, I can see some problems. The eyes seem a bit uneven and crooked. The proportions could use some work as the hand is rather small compared to the rest of the body. Her hair looks a bit flat from this angle and the shading is off cause I can't see much of a light source. Her mouth looks rather strange, I can't tell what you were going for but it looks just...odd when I look at it. Just the way it is from this angle makes it hard.

Outside of that, I think there is still room for improvement in style, but I believe with enough practice and looking off references you will be fine. See ya!

Heya! Coming in from

You coloring is very simple and neat. You have efficiently paired the simple shading with clean line art and clear layout. In general the image appears calm and clean. There isn’t a clear light source which would be a welcomed add on, however in general the shadow placing seems to be right. Color you’ve also chosen well, the palette looks harmonic, yet you have a nice amount of varying hues.

Anatomy however, needs work. You surely have a right direction to it, but there are some details that need refining to really make this image better. First of all the eyes are very different in size, I don’t know if you were aiming for a half closed eye expression, but at the moment it just looks misleading. The left eye should be the same size than the right one and when it comes to perspective – actually the eye further away should be more squished. If you want the other eye to be half closed – draw it firs on the right size and then close the lid on top of the pupil. Also remember to make sure the ears are leveled and similar in size. The one other issue would be the hand – it’s very small compared to the face. Usually the hand covers most of the face from chin to forehead and should be almost as wide too. When stylizing things the proportions should all be exaggerated accordingly (e.g small hands go together with small feet etc.) however your image doesn’t imply on stylization, hence I would make her hand bigger and check the alignment of the fingers holding the umbrella (the pinkie looks very very thin).

Overall you’ve done good with the image. A little tweaking here and there and you have a great character portrait in your hands.

The eyes are made this way on purpose because the character isn't human, shes actually half insect.

Here's a reference: Shes from a story ive put on hold cause i got bored of it.But thank you fo rthe help anyway it means a lot.
