Description
Sunset reflects against the sunflowers just east of Denver, Colorado on the evening of Monday, August 18th, 2014. I had to wait for the right second to click the shutter as a breeze was blowing creating very challenging conditions. This is one of my favorite fields to photograph and the last time I had a chance was in 2011. The large sunflowers don't grow in the same field every year and usually skip a few years due to them draining so many nutrients out of the ground. On and on though this field went, literally miles upon miles of nothing but sunflowers! If you are interested in seeing this field during the daylight, I did record a video of it. Be sure to watch in HD and in full screen. youtu.be/KuOx7SquEqQ?list=UUwe…---John

Fantastic image. The way you shot this makes the field seem endless.

I love how cheerful this image is. Great job catching them at the right moment. While a breeze is lovely on a warm summer evening, it really does make it hard to photograph flowers.

Great shot! But everytime I see pics like these I wonder how you get this depth of field? If I would focus on the sunflowers in the front at an aperture of 6.3, the back would be blurred. Did you use focus stacking?

Thanks for the feature! No focus stacking, hyperfocal distance instead www.youtube.com/watch?v=73Yx4N…

I am pretty sure I drove by this field today, but this just makes it so much more amazing than even in person, wonderful job!

Oh wow. This is absolutely gorgeous. I thought this picture was a painting; even with the zoom in, those flowers just don't look like a photo. And the sunset is beautiful, too. Maybe I should go visit Denver again sometime...

miles and miles, must have been an awe-inspiring sight. This one is kind of funny, looks like it's rush hour, the sun is about to 'punch out' and they all got to go...NOW. Thanks for sharing the pic, and the story about the area. Even though I know someone who grew up there, he's not the kind to stop and smell the flowers; but he's blessed nonetheless for having grown up there, in my opinion
