kingofthedededes73 — The joys of gen 7 Ev training

Description Generation 7 has one major flaw: it's EV training methods are incredibly tedious and took weeks to do in the post game.

the problem stems from the fact that the only way to lower stats in this gen is that it increases the happiness stat too, and in the postgame your teams would already max out by the end of it, especially if you used pokemon refresh constantly.

And the only way to lower the happy value is to basically put them in the pokepelago's sauna for way too long, and since it decreases slowly, lowering happy stats with the festival plaza takes just as long!

I imagine my pokemon team did not really like being left there for a weekend, sad to say it did work and helped get the right ev stats for them up and running.

All in all, gen 6 had a perfect method that really should have been brought back to sun and moon! Namely because using the reset bags always worked right and did not affect the happy stats...

I know you uploaded this picture over a year ago, so I don't know if this will help now, but you can still buy the Power Lens, Power Anklet, etc. items that give you +8 EV points of a single stat every time you battle. You have to accumulate BP to buy them, but they don't cost a lot, and that's how I myself train my Pokemon's EVs.

It's probably too late now, but the herbs are also an easy way to lower happiness.  Though like Strikerprime said, I thought the EV items worked even with max happiness, but I haven't had a chance to test it yet to see if that's the case.  Regardless, I agree the reset bags are still my favorite way of resetting EVs.

Oh right, you probably can't use them unless they've taken some damage.  It's been awhile since I've used them.

I checked and none of the herbs affect ev stats really, they more handled status conditions and healing

I meant when it comes to lower friendship.  I know in the games they healed status conditions but at the cost of lowering happiness.

You know there are also Berries that lower a Pokémon's stats (they also increase a Pokémon's happiness, but I don't know if they work on a Pokémon that has max happiness).

One of each berry will lower a Pokémon's stat by 10, so you'll have to plant a lot of them.

Yes they do, I used them on my Ash-Greninja. It comes already EV trained, it has max speed and its Attack and Special Attack EV's were split. So I got rid of the Attack EV's and put it into the Special Attack stat. So it's entirely possible.

Just so you know for the future.
