Description Acoma Pueblo, New Mexico. Built upon a 357 foot high sandstone mesa, the tribe claims that Acoma is the oldest continuously inhabited city in the United States. Coronado was the first white man to enter the village in 1540. The location upon the giant rock was considered an ideal defense against enemies. Today fewer than 50 Acomans actually live in Sky City year-round. To this day there is no running water or electricity on the mesa. Water has to be trucked or brought up in individual containers. A Spanish mission was built on the 70 acre mesa in 1629.

Beautiful rich colors, and a striking composition that really suits the title. I particularly like how the matching tones between the city on the ground and the bright clouds in the upper part of the image manage to make the image feel unified, despite being visually disparate. Nice work.

The story told in this image, abstract and concrete, is abnormally deep or substantive. On top of that it's a fantastic capture of a natural phenomenon.

I really appreciate the included history in the description, it makes images like this so much more meaningful.

Well, to put in into perspective, it all starts with the vista itself, you have a great contrast between the dry, desert land, and the blue sky. Put it through some HDR effects and you have yourself a really interesting image that just takes full advantage of that contrast.
