Description
This is my second drawing of the year of a person I’ve never drawn previously. This was supposed to be one of those quick and easy drawings with little detail that a person does to wind down. I had forgotten how much I don’t like black backgrounds and how hard it is to draw a wrinkly man forehead. Honestly I feel there are many things I’d like to still refine. However, after 23 hours over a period of over 4 weeks, I am ready to move on. Maybe some day I’ll go back and work on those things that bother me in this drawing. Thank you for looking!I used 9 x 12 Bristol board with pencils ranging from F to 6B and 3,476 brain cells.

Looking at this and some of your other portrait works, I find myself in awe of how you manage to capture the actual contours of a face, using how each part reflects the light to great effect.
It's a brilliant skill and you use it so well here. I can almost trace the rises and dips of his face.
You've done a wonderful job capturing that intense expression as well -- and his eyes look great.
