MEDIA: Mixed (markers and crayons)

This is based on the Busy World of Richard Scarry episode "Denys at Camp" (that's right, they did spell "Dennis" that way in that title).

Remember this?

Like in the episode, Miss Poppy, the pig camp counselor, worried about how I felt, and offered to call my parents up to get me if I was really unhappy. I immediately accepted the offer; however, she wasn't going to do that just yet. First, I had to try the obstacle course and the canoe race and see how I liked them.

The way the course went, I was okay with the first two tunnels (even though, for the second, I didn't think I'd fit through there), and I thought I'd like the tire tunnel, but I didn't. Then, there was the rope-and-wall obstacle. I had a hard time climbing up (it was scary), but getting down was another problem... I was afraid I'd fall... and, of course, I went last.

Finally, canoeing. Like Dennis, I had never gone canoeing before (according to the events, but then again, I had never done that at that age in real life. Not until I was 12 and repeating sixth grade.) I hadn't learned, so it was too much pressure racing... naturally, I didn't win. I would have been okay with canoeing if it was just simple and relaxing instead of a race.

At snacktime, Miss Poppy offered to keep her promise, and I immediately accepted, much to the worry of the other campers. Who can guess which camper is saying which off-screen?

Yes, I will be missing all the rest of the fun, but I'd rather that was the case than go through one more night of torture (so I saw it, anyway). I just didn't want to have to go through another night of wearing pajamas (or anything besides my underpants) to bed, trying to stay still the whole night, or hear any nocturnal animals, all of which make sleeping harder for me.

By the way, I never cared for plain white milk of any kind; only if it was flavored or used in a desirable product like ice cream, custard, or even some kinds of soup. As for the stuff in the bowl, it's "puppy chow," which is actually Chex cereal (or any equivalent thereof) that's coated in chocolate and covered with powdered sugar (I found that out in a real-life camp I went to when I was 12.).
