Description
Harley was being very friendly that day... It felt odd putting my arms and camera inside his cage and not worrying about them. He lives at Safari's Sanctuary .View this photo in my proofs gallery, order prints, and learn about my professional photography.

Aaw, he's gorgeous! Love those eyes...he looks so relaxed. And that nose! Ha! I know this was taken a while ago but doesn't a lighter nose mean he's younger?

It sure does! A lion's nose generally starts out all pink, and slowly turns black as it gets older as more and more "freckles" appear. If you see a lion with an all-black nose, it's probably rather old!
Harley's exact age escapes me at the moment, but he is still fairly young, and has only been fully-grown for a few years. (I think -- I recently moved, haven't had a chance to work at the park in many months, and honestly don't remember.)

I thought so! 8D I thought that was so interesting when I saw the Animal Planet special 'Heart of a Lioness.' :3
Aaw that's no fun! How long did you work with them before you moved?

Between one and two years. I was there long enough that I did get to go in the cage with all of the smaller cats (cougars, leopards, etc.) and some of the tigers. It was definitely a great experience. If you ever have the chance to volunteer at a place like that, I definitely recommend it.

Now he needs a friend called Davison.
Great shot, by the way.

That lion -looks- like a Harley. (And I don't mean the bike, I just mean the name fits!)

It certainly does! His attitude fits it, too.

I'm so envious of you being able to see this almost everyday.
That's a beautiful shot! Love how he's looking directly at the viewer.

Being able to see the animals and interact with them every weekend is great. They've been letting me go in with a few of the tigers recently, too. It's quite an interesting thing.
Thanks, though! It's really something that I managed to get a shot of him looking so close to the camera. He's usually a bit more feisty than that.
