Description From: Planes (2013)
來自:飛機總動員(2013年)

A shy, depressed, quiet female jet (Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II ) with the "Madeline" hat on, who is native Korean, named Madeline Cho . Being born in California United States, she is unfortunately disappointed with her early life in this country. She got once severely discriminated and bullied by the American citizens, because she refused join the American military after being forced to be drafted by the American government. Luckily she didn't get arrested. (At the time, United States is under the late Cold War with the Soviet Union.) Without having life support, Madeline ended up being beaten almost many times!!! Even though she is a fighter jet, she never thought about joining the military at all.

In the middle of 1990, Madeline secretly disappear and "disenrolled" herself from the American college and started to escape the nation by taking off "secretly" to prevent from being caught by the American officials. She flew up in the sky across the Pacific Ocean for few hours until she then descends down as she almost reaches the city of Pohang  (포항시 / 浦項市),  South Korea, her ancestral city. It was heavy raining while Madeline calls the control tower at the Pohang Airport  (포항공항 / 浦項空港), requesting for the emergency landing. The airport accepts her request and she landed safely at the runway. Because of her health urgency, the police cars and one ambulance truck then came to secure Madeline, by placing her into a ambulance, and taking her to a nearby hospital. The ambulance crews interviewed with Madeline about her personal information.

After arriving at the hospital, Madeline was then taken to a mental health therapist to have a long interview and her reasons to come to South Korea urgently. The therapist feels very sad to hear about her disappointing life experiences back in the United States, and how she got forcefully drafted to the military by the American government that she refused to, which caused her to dislike the American society. He understands Madeline's words until he then use a calligraphy brush to write down three Hanja (한자 / 漢字) characters to her, which reads "Tal-mi-ja"/ 脫美者 (탈미자), meaning "American defector". Madeline listens to the therapist's explanation about this creative word, which completely states that she was "honored" to have this name, because of how Madeline became the first and only female fighter jet to escape from the United States to have a better life in South Korea.

Because Madeline's family lives in South Korea (They once lived in the United States for few decades), so the therapist called her family to come to the hospital to see Madeline and talk with the therapist. Her family felt very worried about Madeline's urgent actions, so they came to give a big family hug to Madeline and cried together. After the long interview, the therapist discharged Madeline. So, she and her family then flew back to the hangar. Madeline's family knew that Madeline didn't eat anything before flying, so they prepared a big late night meal for her to eat. They smiled like sad as they watched Madeline eat slowly. Her family even helped her took a long bath until they took her to sleep. The next day, because Madeline is still supposed to continue with her college career, Madeline's family helped Madeline apply for few universities that she decides to study in, and even helped her to apply for South Korean citizenship, which takes few years to achieve it. At first, Madeline is required to take the CSAT  (수능 / 修能), in order to enroll. So, Madeline used a lot of weeks of concentration on studying and refreshing her knowledge, by reading a lot of books. She then took the CSAT at a high school in Pohang, receiving the highest score.

Madeline finally got enrolled at Pohang University (포항대학교 / 浦項大學校) for 2 years until she transferred to Handong University  (한동대학교 / 韓東大學校), mastering law. At that time, Madeline became very happy and peaceful with her new college environment—she made some new friends which brings her much more support. Especially in Handong, she gain popularity by being a "most unique student leader" around the campus. One day in 1995, the university held a big conference meeting for Madeline to have a long speech to the students about her escape from the United States to South Korea. She speaks both Korean and English at her speech, sadly explaining about how the American society turned very different from time to time. Most students felt saddened by how "poor" Madeline's early life is, and they all show respect to her beliefs. Before the end of her speech, Madeline took out a big calligraphy paper with the three large Hanja characters "Tal Mi-ja" that she wrote using her calligraphy brush, and showed it to the students and spoke out the statement, which surprises them. After the speech, some students came up and made friends with Madeline. She continues to have good environment in the university, learning hard on the required courses and other course interests, earning a lot of good grades. Few years passed, Madeline then finally graduated from the university in 1997

The same year, Madeline finally obtained her South Korean citizenship. She felt very happy that her life is finally becoming much more comfortable and peaceful.

Madeline remains in South Korea for the rest of her life. Nowadays, Madeline is still a fiancée to Cameron Han (한비웅 / 韓飛雄) , who is the former South Korean air force soldier, who lost his beloved younger brother (back in 2018). Showing the complete equal political views, she and Cameron are currently continuing with their career in politics. Here's the link to that drawing .

Therefore, there are many reasons why Madeline decides to escape to South Korea. It's mostly because she is fully disciplined with the greatest knowledge of humanity and traditional Korean culture. Interestingly, her early life is actually inspired by the famous American boxer: Muhammad Ali (born Cassius Clay), that has the same experience of refusing to join the American military, mostly because of discrimination. She does NOT show hate of North Korea's Jucheism, nor the ruling of the Kim dynasty, nor communism. She supports the Korean reunification. Because the United States is the ongoing enemy against North Korea, so that's what made Madeline deciding to escape this country for good. Madeline also criticize United States' military for it's pro-militarism in South Korea, which she felt very offended and disappointed. At present times, she and Cameron often joined in every protest to fight against American militarism, which states that they show the hate views against the America's democratic government.

"主體思想(주체사상)를 反對(반대)하지 않는다. 나를 양키스라고 부른 韓國人(한국인)은 없다고 말했다."

(“I got nothing against no Jucheism. No Korean ever called me a Yankee.")
- Madeline Cho (inspirational quote based from Muhammad Ali)
