Description
This is an illustration I did to accompany an article published in a programming guide to an anime convention a while back.Oddly enough this picture reminds me of the art of the Late Great Mike Weiringo. I wasn't going for that look, as I was trying to be more "anime-esque". But there are worse things than unintentionally imitating the work of an admired professional.

Great job on the piece. I do enjoy your spacecraft (normally, people try to build them like your generic cone-style rocket, but I'm glad you used a fighter craft as a basis for a single-occupant vessel).
And the girl in the piece is lovingly drawn, and I enjoy the detailing on her suit. Plus, that shot of her looking at that planet (which's landmasses resemble a smile) is well-constructed.
I love it!

Yea, I easily could've gotten away with a simple V-2-style rocket, or a conical Apollo-style capsule for the spaceship in this drawing. But as a devout fan of the wickedly awesome Shoji Kawamori, it was more or less my duty to draw in a high tech space fighter--albeit a chibified version.

Yeah, you could've gone the generic V-2 rocket approach, but I'm glad you went with a high-tech vessel. But, since she's the only occupant, it makes sense for it to be "chibified".

I thought that was an Alpha fighter at first glance, but then I noticed it had the *tail fins right next to the cockpit*!
