The short version is they they are a race of amphibious beings that prefer to spend their time in the water as they don't move well on land. However since they live in Envernos, which is an under world like a plane of hell, the waters of the lake they live in is corrupted. They can't spend more than a few hours at a time underwater before they start to get physically ill and feel pain. This makes them grumpy and causes them to attack most other beings that stray into their territory.
