The values of the colours here are spot-on for creating a 3-dimensional effect. I could just stare at this all day. Really cool!

Oh, I would believe so.. >_< presently I seem to be having issues with a simple "beginner" quilt...

Nicely done!!

The colors you've chosen really suggest depth, which is important for a piece like this.

Your corners are nice and sharp both on the edges of the quilt as well as most, if not all, of the points on the triangles in the polygons of the shape.

It lies flat, which is nice to see, and from what I can tell at this small size the quilting is quite nice as well!

I'm also mesmerized with the background fabric you chose. Your freehand quilting just makes it even more interesting

What kind of fabric is on the back?

cutting was not "fun" I did copy this from someone else's design
but I liked the idea so much, I did it, 3D art, tricks of light/space is
something I am drawn too

the backing was Moda Marble Quilt Backing

I admire those that even try to quilt (even if only by machine)

I'd imagine that cutting and piecing was a major pain in the butt. You did really nicely, though

My mother's a quilter, and has taught me a bit...but I'm not anywhere near as good as her. I've come to learn how to appreciate quilts, though

backing the pieces, (not with paper, but fusable) was/is the secret, I found this out with Celtic quilts which have free form spirls and the ribbions in an orchid quilt I did years ago
but the new fusable saved me
