Description I know its different, but I like it nonetheless. I was shooting a herd of bison when I saw this focus and I liked it. That is what those dark things are in the background in case you were wondering. Taken at Grand Teton National Park, WY.

I am undecided if the grass at the very bottom of the photo is distracting. Input please.

the OOF forground makes the finishing touche to this photo!

Keep it like it is, if you wanna have my opinion

Lovely focusing work, great colors and very good composition again.

My compliments!

The blurry foreground makes this photo in my opinion. It gives the photo balance and good composition. Balance because eases the viewer to the sharp grasses and then back out to the blurry plains.

Composition because it puts the bison in the right spot in the photo. Anything up or down with them I think would break what this photo has.

I tried cropping it out and yes, the balance was off. I decided to leave it as is. It really screwed it up. Thanks for the backup on that thought Devin.

I like when you're experimenting and using your intuition, Jen. It's an interesting image to look at because it stirs your imagination, but since you ask: I would probably crop away the most blurred part at the bottom

jayshree In reply to KeldBach [2009-09-21 20:05:55 +0000 UTC]

That part is so I don't know. its a bit distracting, but then I look at it again and I'm not sure. lol I'll check it out again when I get home. Thanks Keld. I seriously hate doing the same thing over and over again. I like variety.

KeldBach In reply to jayshree [2009-09-21 20:52:36 +0000 UTC]

Yes, it's distracting because it's too blurred down there to be interesting. And it takes away focus from the rest of the scenery, which is much more inspiring to look at. Just my opinion, Jen, but you could make two different versions and then decide for yourself after a little while

I tried cropping and it threw the composition off. I'll stick with what I got.

I like this. Had you photographed the bison, they would have been small spots in the frame. I like this because it shows you the fuzzy bison in the background but emphasizes what they eat and live in.
