Β For gold card animation they have a talented fx animator in house that does those. Fun fact- they take them on from flat images and do the work from there

Generally they will say like male troll or female night elf. Sometimes there are guidelines; like for instance this guy originally had a goatee and different hairstyle but they wanted it to be a bit more traditional so i had to change it. For the most part you get a good amount of freedom; the colouring stage gets more guidelines usually as you can't really go too dark and they want it to have a lot of vibrant colour etc so you get less moody pieces in general. They are pretty cool about most things.
