Rediscovering Street II
In this journal I would like to present the work of our resident Architect and friend who sends us postcards from all over the world, José Calheiros, better known as JACAC.
I have always wanted to go through José's gallery, but since he is one of the most active deviants (bless him) among street photographers (he does other wonderful photography as well) on deviantArt, I kept on loosing out.
Over the past weekend I decided then to finally go on the grand tour, which is JACAC published works on this site, and now I'm taking you along.
Let me first introduce this artists Street work, since this was what I wanted to pursuing in his gallery.

Thank you so much for your fantastic description of the photo
You see everything i saw and you feel it as i felt
If fact as you say, the street photo, and it's what i like to do, as you can see on my gallery, is made of seconds of life and i just take just one photo of that subject, because after is no more the same moment. I don't like to crop, or photoshop photos, i always try to make my composition on place and make it as much natural as i can
I was walking in the street looking to the grey buildings, i am an architect, and i notice the colorfull girl, playing with the water, i must took it, as a contrast of the business world and the joy of the child
I am glad you like it and i make you think and feel
That is the idea of a photo

Hi!
What I see here is not only a color-wearing girl, but a girl completely out of the ordinary of London-style: playful, non-business-like, etc.
I absolutely love the dark buildings that contrast with the little girl. I don't know if you ever play with your photos (by editing, I mean) but if you do, I would suggest lowering the contrast of the image so the little girl is the only contrasting point. Actually, I take that back. I would darken the sky a bit, and leave the rest of the photo unmanipulated. But I would only do that if I were you, because I don't edit my photos except to make them either black and white or sepia.
I guess what I'm trying to say that the little girl is not contrasting to the colors, but rather to the attitude of the rest of the piece. I like what you did here.

The photo was taken in a minute, i saw the girl and place myself behind her with my 10mm lens and i took the photo.
I do not edit my photos, i only convert to black/white if i thing it would be better.
I always try to make the photo on my mind and take just one photo of each subject, if it is good ok, if not is because i couln't do it right
with this phot i won the PHOTO french magazine prize on the 2011 contest, what was great

This is a fine documentary. You have the contrasting elements of youth with the adult world.
I played with the cropping and have a suggestion to dramatically increase the photos impact.
keep the bottom.
move the right side in to just include the man in the light shirt since you need the jacket whole.
move the left edge in to just eliminate the two men in light shirts.
drop the top edge to just above the center tower.
what you are left with has great impact which grabs the viewer, and places all our attention on the child, moving the impact scale to 5 stars.

I rate it fair, but i don't really agreed to what you say, not in terms of composition, but only because i don't crop my photos, i want that they show exactly what i have seen and felt on place.
So i only take one photo of what i see
And if i like it ok if i don't i didn't i don't show it, easy
About this photo i didn't had time to think, because you know now kids are, always moving...

Not only the little girl playing in the middle of the street (I love her coat!) but the lines and the perspective are awesome!
