As they build up over time, he feels uglier - being passive aggressive and slightly frustrated at people around him who don't even know they've upset him. - Swimming: If need be, he'll sit and float around in the water, but physically exerting himself in the water isn't his cup of tea. Hot tubs and saunas are nice though.

History: Yuu grew up as the middle child in his family. He has an older sister and a younger brother. As children, his parents didn't pay excessive attention to him or his older sister, expecting them to be the independent ones. They doted on his younger brother and seemed to play favourites from time to time. It was not that his parents didn't love Yuu or his sister - they took care of them and bought them clothes and gave them compliments whenever the two accomplished something in school - it was simply that they loved their youngest son the most. Not wanting to be a burden, this caused Yuu to develop the habit of pushing aside his opinions or needs. He became closer with his sister because of the constant time they spent together as children while their parents focused on their younger brother.
He also tried his best to please his parents because those were the times that their focus would be directed at him, smiles and praise directed at him. Eventually, he began to seek out praise outside of the house to compensate for the lack of attention at home, trying to please everyone he met.
In school, from an early age, it was obvious that Yuu struggled with any subject not reliant on numbers and straight facts. His sister was the one who he would run to for help on an essay or story-writing assignment.

Once Yuu entered middle school, he began to spend more time out of the house, making more friends and socializing a great deal more.
He was growing increasingly tired of his brother's clingy presence at home and his parents bias. It seemed that once he had hit puberty, he became an idol-figure for his younger brother who would follow him around, watching everything he did. Whichever room Yuu was in, his brother would be in as well. On good days, they would get along and Yuu wouldn't get too annoyed, but most of the time, Yuu ended up snapping at the younger boy and giving him a cold shoulder. This type of attitude got him in trouble with their parents often. And he stopped trying to brush his younger brother away as much and would silently voice his thoughts - it caused less problems for everyone in the house.
He knew that though he wanted to get along with his brother, mostly all he could feel was jealousy and resentment. At this age, he could blatantly see how much their parents spoiled his sibling and it was a small black thought that he buried when going to school. However, this attitude began to seep into his interactions at school. Yuu would do the exact same thing and never voice his real opinions around peers (because voicing your negative thoughts and feelings always ended up with a scolding, isn't that what he's found thus far?). Countless little things that his classmates did would annoy him and pile up, but on the outside Yuu kept smiling and being the "nicest and politest boy" in their grade.

They enrolled Yuu in Seiko High because of its near proximity to their neighbourhood. His sister is in university and isn't around as much anymore, living at her university's dorm residence. They keep in touch often though.
After entering Seiko High, Yuu lost some friends from middle school, but gained new ones easily over the course of 10th and 11th grade. It doesn't feel like anything has drastically changed. Yuu doesn't try (as hard as he used to when he was younger) to please or comply with what people want anymore, but he is still alert and observant of what others need.
At this age, Yuu still wishes he didn't have to hide his thoughts at home, to speak up when he's angry or displeased, and could let go more (he does more than enough lying and fake smiles outside of the house.)

Other:
- Their parents stopped making lunches for them after they all reached middle school in order to force the three siblings to cook for themselves and learn to be more independent. Yuu still can't cook anything edible and ends up bringing money everyday for the school cafeteria. On good days, his lowerclassmen (Reiji and Kazuki) make bentos for him.
- Likes to learn pop girlgroup dances. Secretly.
- Wants to dye his hair but his parents won't allow him to.
- Stops at the convinience store in the mornings to grab onion ring packs for Taiki and himself during school break hours. It is tradition.

Once they were both in high school, the two began to spend more time together during breaks and lunch, as well as going to each other's houses after school. Yuu gets Kazuki to make bentos for him as well.
Taiki - A first year student who trails after Yuu a lot. They are like brothers. Sometimes, Yuu wishes Taiki was his real younger brother.
