Wowhead is doing a contest for the new expansion. They wanted a wallpaper sort of image, so in that I was torn on whether to do a demon hunter, Illidan or what. I figure everyone is going to do demon hunters or Illidan. I also thought that if it's a wallpaper, that not everyone would like one or the other, so instead I went with Suramar, one of the main cities and raids in the expansion. Since it's part of the broken isle and will be facing off with the Legion there, I thought it'd be cool to show the city with the Legion on the horizon.

This was also well out of my comfort zone. I don't usually do backgrounds of this nature or detail. A good 13- 15 hours was put into this. I wanted it to be as magical as the original concept images we've seen, but also a bit foreboding with a demon lurking ominously in the clouds. The fade from the ethereal blues, to the fel green was a good transition, I thought. I'm ridiculously proud of this and hope you all enjoy it too
