Eee, I haven't made any dragons in this pose in a while! I still love it.
It has taken me more than a year of off and on practicing, but I think I'm finally at the point where I'm happy with the shape of my standing dragons' back legs and able to consistently achieve that shape. I'd hit on the right shape every once in a while by accident, but it took a while to figure out how to make it on purpose. xDAnyway, I thought it would be fun to make a black dragon with really bright accents, so this one ended up black with toxic green highlights. A bit different from my usual color schemes, but that's cool. I feel like I need to branch out more, sometimes. :] Also, I added little hoop earrings, because that's still one of my favorite adornments for my dragons, even if I don't add them all that often anymore.
Crafted from colored, oven-bake polymer clay. This dragon has found a home, but you can still visit her Etsy listing to see additional photos.

Ooooh, I like this guy! His colors remind me of a Ben 10 character -- very striking.
Question -- do you use a wire frame at all for making these guys? (I know I already own one of these figures but I'm NOT about to break him open to find out for myself...

I use a little bit of wire sometimes, usually just for wings and legs if they need extra support. For this dragon, I put some wire in her right front leg so that it would support her weight while baking in the oven (baking clay softens before it gets hard). Otherwise though, I find the wire unnecessary, as my dragons are small enough to not collapse under their own weight. I do use an armature of sorts (small, prebaked clay cores for the heads and bodies), but it's more so that those parts don't mush out of shape while I'm working, than for strength.

I have an idea, to keep in tune with the Halloween festivities, you should make Five Nights at Freddy's dragons, because FNAF 4 is getting terrifyingly good DLC this Hallows Eve.
