I am suddenly amazed at how this image looks fantastic at a distance yet closer investigation revels it only to be so much thick lines suggesting a cityscape. And yet I love it.

Yeah the ambient lighting really came out really fine on this one; it looks like a hazy morning in a futuristic rush-hour.
Good work Hideyoshi-sama.

Thanks my man!
They were fun; a sprinkly of dark humor here, some relentless brutality there - my kinda gig hee hee!
Although I still dont like doing day-time lighting schemes for some reason, I guess its just a personal preference.

i think the most boring (but also pretty challenging!) thing to do is overcast sky lighting...
any chance of seeing a vid recording of you painting or some sort of tutorial at some point?

I can see that; the flat dispursed light would probably be a ballbuster to capture accurately.
I plan on it sometime in the future without question; conceptart.org is expanding thier school so im thinking that maybe there would be an opportunity there somehow?
I dunno my approach is totally backwards from everything ive ever heard of; I work on 2 layers max and in color from the get-go, I dont mess with layers, lineart or start in greyscale, I do the loose sketch first and then search for photos that might assist me second - which usually ends up being fruitless more often than not - and end up having to figure it out for myself.
I would hate to steer anyone wrong with my self-taught nonsense, but you never know it might end up being the perfect example of what not to do.
...
Hey!
Maybe I should use that as the gimmick to sell it!

yeah, maybe the Conceptart dudes could get you into doing some tutorial, that would be ace!
Sorry, I think I have asked you about your progress more than once already that all sounds familiar, haha
anyway, looking forward to what you might cook up next!
