Great work on the floor,
I think he's cheated on his partner with the person lying down and he's sat there feeling guilty about it...
Love the whole thing though, makes you think so much

What a beautiful painting - your skills are amazing!
I think it's obvious that they're lovers, though what kind of lovers?
She could very well be a prostitute which would make him the empty shell of a man hungry for love, who tries to find it in cheap substitutes of a relationship.
My guess is that they've been married for years and their love is not what it used to be - the passion is gone and has given its place to habit and predictability. Maybe there was no real love in the first place. The painting is full of regret - his regret. He is disenchanted by his life and disappointed by himself for having settled down and for never having the courage to search for his true love...

oooo wonderful concept. to me it seems like hes either contemplating over an argument they had last night or maybe even he killed her and hes just sort of sitting there....that would be cool lol. well not cool that he killed her but ya know...yeah nvm lol. the way her legs are positioned though just gives me the impression that shes stiff on her back....or even HEs stiff ^.~ LOVE the floor...musta took forever. this is a great conversational piece though nice idea. i love artwork that tells a story. its fun reading everyones ideas on the picture lol.

I think the feet belong to someone who's ill and in the hospital. And her (/his?) condition doesn't look good. The guy is just... thinking about giving up hope. But that's all off the feet and legs being very pale and stiff-looking. Not necessarily dead; that makes no sense really, as he doesn't look upset enough. Just like she's been arranged neatly and isn't just sleeping.
Anyway, whoa.

Wow! Okay. So, the unidentified figure's legs are very very white and stiff. Which brings up the image of death. So this could be, well, gruesome. Considering that most homicides of women are at the hands of men they trust, it's likely that he is her husband. And he killed her through a form of abuse, probably after a night of drinking and believing in her worthlessness. Perhaps, after ending her life, he passed out next to her and, now in the morning, knowing well what he has done, sits to think about how to hide the body, no remorse or regret. I'm sure his planning, though, won't be complex. They'll find her body in a couple of weeks and he'll be serving life in prison + 20 for his sloppy work.
Sorry if that was really depressing. That's just what I got off of their 'relationship' status.

Very interesting picture, and very interesting comments The woman seems dead to me, her legs are so stiff and lacking any warmth of life. But he did not kill her, no, he is too desperate and heartbroken! This is great art, it provokes lots of interpretations, there is really some depth in it!

More than their relationship, the viewer wonders how they keep their floor bords so shiny.
Maybe the male figure is wondering how on earth he is going to perform his marital duties after spending three days polishing the floor with pungent chemicals.
Amazing gallery of course

if u want us to wonder what the relationship is, then gooood job.. you got me thinking of a billion different senarios of how they both feel. and i love how you even give her feet some expression so i can get an idea of what she's like even though i cant see her face. and on top of all that, great style! veryy well done!!!

Well, you succeeded. To be honest I began to think of the relationship of the two figures right away. It seems, to be, that their bond might not be so strong. But that's just how I see it...
