Riku and King Mickey from Kingdom Hearts II...
I was part of the Secret Santa group -- it was a TON of fun! I've never been part of such an intricate Secret Santa group before!
Anyhoo, this Secret Santa piece is for ~ChosenOfDarkness664 , who will receive it in a note on Christmas Eve, so please don't tell her it's here until then! ^^ No spoiling, y'hear?
Anyway, she asked for Riku from Kingdom Hearts and I was SO excited, since Riku is my favorite KH character too! I haven't drawn him in YEARS, so it was really fun to go back and draw and color him digitally for the first time! Thanks for such an awesome request, ~ChosenOfDarkness664 !

I like lots of things about this pic ^_^ The Heartless actually look menacing and never ending, as opposed to how they often look cute and no more than a hundred or so. The fog really adds to the effect. I like how the city looks both real and abstract at the same time. Like someone cold actually live in those buildings, but you know they do not because of how the buildings are twisted.
I like the resolve in Riku's face, the detail on the way to dawn, the way wind violently blows at his coat and blindfold yet Riku firmly stands his ground. And that we cant see Mikus face (either because his back is to us or if he isnt actually there, just his memory), but Riku knows he is there and will watch his back.

Such awesome descriptions! That was the first time I really paid attention to a background, so I'm really happy that you noticed it! When you said "Twisted" I thought that I should have done different shapes to the buildings besides rectangular! But alas, that will have to be saved for another drawing!
Riku was so fun and surprisingly easy to draw... I haven't drawn him in YEARS and I have never drawn him in the digital media, so it was really fun to revisit him! Mickey's face can't be seen 'cause he's a little further back and the fog is hiding his features, but it really is up to interpretation!
