Description
Bridging the GapI could not stress enough how much I went through in the last week with a certain girl. I had some very
good things happen and some not very good things. I had something happen that was one of the most scary
things ever but I got over it and it turned out good. I think its been a life changing week for me which is going to
be awesome for next year and throughout the whole summer.
I spent quite a bit of time in Photoshop comprising this piece together. I try many new random experiments in PS
and I love the out come personally. This is a very important piece to me and I hope you like it
The intial idea behind the piece came from this past week and how I felt that some areas of my life were acceling but others were not. I was "bridging the gap" between different aspects of my life.
The grid type parts of main top and left side are the entrance to one of the biggest train stations in the world and the reason I used this whether you can see it in your mind or not is that trains = transport which is what I applied to my life catching up with it self. The text is the love side of this because the feelings I had for this girl were completely different then any other and that is where the different sayings of text came in.
The duplication of the piece that was rotated 90 degrees was to show that something life changing could happen again but in a different form. So that different form is the rotation of the same thing moved over because it is farther ahead in my life. The dark blocks were the concrete contrast parts of this piece to show that this situation has really built a strong foundation for the rest of my life.
To Brooklyn Bridge
by Hart Crane
How many dawns, chill from his rippling rest
The seagull's wings shall dip and pivot him,
Shedding white rings of tumult, building high
Over the chained bay waters Liberty--
Then, with inviolate curve, forsake our eyes
As apparitional as sails that cross
Some page of figures to be filed away;
--Till elevators drop us from our day . . .
I think of cinemas, panoramic sleights
With multitudes bent toward some flashing scene
Never disclosed, but hastened to again,
Foretold to other eyes on the same screen;
And Thee, across the harbor, silver-paced
As though the sun took step of thee, yet left
Some motion ever unspent in thy stride,--
Implicitly thy freedom staying thee!
Out of some subway scuttle, cell or loft
A bedlamite speeds to thy parapets,
Tilting there momently, shrill shirt ballooning,
A jest falls from the speechless caravan.
Down Wall, from girder into street noon leaks,
A rip-tooth of the sky's acetylene;
All afternoon the cloud-flown derricks turn . . .
Thy cables breathe the North Atlantic still.
And obscure as that heaven of the Jews,
Thy guerdon . . . Accolade thou dost bestow
Of anonymity time cannot raise:
Vibrant reprieve and pardon thou dost show.
O harp and altar, of the fury fused,
(How could mere toil align thy choiring strings!)
Terrific threshold of the prophet's pledge,
Prayer of pariah, and the lover's cry,--
Again the traffic lights that skim thy swift
Unfractioned idiom, immaculate sigh of stars,
Beading thy path--condense eternity:
And we have seen night lifted in thine arms.
Under thy shadow by the piers I waited;
Only in darkness is thy shadow clear.
The City's fiery parcels all undone,
Already snow submerges an iron year . . .
O Sleepless as the river under thee,
Vaulting the sea, the prairies' dreaming sod,
Unto us lowliest sometime sweep, descend
And of the curveship lend a myth to God.
