Description
New work in the Book Project! Based on Anne Bishop's "Dark Jewels" series, so the character you can see here is Jaenelle. Not a big fan of the books, but I did read three. This manip, in a simplified, de-animalized version, is available as a premade book cover over here: thebookcoverdesigner.com/prema… .
I also prepared a walkthrough, with some additional tips and tricks written down. Hope you find it helpful - enjoy!

It's so clean, and the soft light and tones are really gorgeous. Beautiful work
"Color lookup" seems useful too. Too bad I don't have PS6..

Thanks so much! "Color lookup" is pretty cool - really good for trying out different looks for an image. Also, you've been working with CS5 the whole time? My respect for your awesome works just grew twice bigger.

haha I appreciate it, but is the difference really that big? I wasn't aware... usually they just add a few arguably useful functions every year. At least that was my impression.

I'd say there's a ton of improvements, they redesigned the whole UI a while back, plus there's a lot of useful new functions - like color lookup, puppet wrap, perspective wrap. I really appreciate it, though yeah, Adobe updates don't usually change that much. I have to pay for the sub anyway since I need Indesign, though, even though it's kind of really expensive, so I'm enjoying the quirks of new Photoshop versions as well.
