Mikeychu's Guide to playing Drayano's ROM Hacks!

So... Lately I've been thinking. Shut up, I have some pretty good idea's once in a while!

I don't see a lot of Drayano* hacks being Nuzlocke'd publicly and probably for good reason (We'll exclude the fact not everyone has access to them);
They're hard. As fuck. Why are they hard, you ask? It's a simple answer.
They're Competitive Level games. Drayano made it so your opponents (every single one of them, yes, even that Rattata) predict what you're going to do and gave everyone a fair advantage over you. You have a Flying/Levitating type out against that Ground type? You bet it's gonna have Smack Down. So if you're going into one, don't expect the Gym Leaders to role over belly up for you. They're not called 'Locke-Killers because it sounds dope as hell *cough* Clay *cough*. Expect that ever person you're going up against is a real person that has been playing Pokémon since you were in diapers, and their intention is making sure you do not proceed! Ever!

I've been playing this hack for over a year, with so many restarts I lost count, and I've only just gotten to Victory Road. You bet I'm fucking terrified of the Elite Four, LET ALONE IRIS! There are many perks to it like getting a Bagon early, but don't ruffle your jimmies just yet because Kai was so lucky. A pseudo legendary is not only as good as you are, but it's only really a power house once it hits its final stage. Before that, in the wrong hands, can be as frail as a Rattata.

So here is my advice to those thinking of playing a Drayano hack Nuzlocke Challenge;

1. Do. Not. Get. Cocky. Challenge mode? Fuck it. Don't do it man. Just don't. Just. WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?
Even Callum (HoodlumScrafty ) and Nappy (TheKingNappy ) have a bitch of a time with Drayano hacks and have lost multiple Nuzlockes on live video. That being said, watching their play-throughs really help you! They not only help you to know what's coming up but they help you strategy wise as both of them are fantastic Competitive players and do it almost daily. (They're also funny as fuck!)
In addition to not being Cocky, just because you have a Bagon does not make you Arceus. It does not ensure your win. Your Nuzlocke is not in the bag. That thing can and will die.

2. Play a ton of Competitive Battles with your friends over wifi!
They're great strategy builders! And it's as I said, Blaze Black, Storm Silver, all of Drayano's hacks are built at a Competitive level; On Challenge mode in Blaze Black 2/Volt White 2, it's almost impossible. Think of the Original games as Entry Level games. That is what you're up against.

3. Do not give up!
Keep going! Restart if you're wiped out! You're bound to get something! Train your Pokemon for hours! And I literally mean hours, it will make you feel better about yourself because you've actually accomplished something most people drop and give up on! You'd be surprised to find that Bagon really did become a power house with a little TLC, whips, chains, blood, sweat and tears!

4. Know your limit.
If you feel your Pokemon aren't gaining levels, then move on to another route. If you're at a dead end and can't proceed without the annihilation of a Gym Leader hell bent on your destruction, explore the area a little, talk to everyone! Drayano put in a FUCK TON of Easter Eggs and hidden items through out the play through, and you'll be surprised what you find! They might just be what you were looking for! ^u^ After you've done that, go back and train with your mind refreshed! And if you can, get a Rematch trainer code on there (google is your friend) like I did, and keep tabs on the trainers with the Pokémon that have the Exp. bombs (Like the Chancey line, or Audino)!
Fun Fact; Audino can be found everywhere in the shaking grass and because it's an unvolved Pokémon it gives BOUTS of experience every time (bonus if you have a Lucky Egg)! Also, if you happen across a new area take advantage of that immediately. You get more experience if you haven't discovered the Pokémon yet!

5. School yourself in Bulbapedia knowledge, but don't rely on it because Drayano changed a lot.
It helps with a lot of things though, like abilities and Natures.

6. Speaking of Natures.
That cool thing that added personality to your Pokémon? Yup, that is now important. For example, Kai's Bagon is Rash nature, which increases Special Attack, but lowers Special Defence. It's great because Bagon can be a Special power house with access to Dragon Pulse, Draco Meteor and Flamethrower and even be a mixed attacker with Dragon Dance for that upped Speed and Attack and make Dragon Rush a beast of a move.
However, with Ice Beam and Blizzard being common Special moves against dragon types, its natural weakness is now a huge threat with its already nurfed Special Defence. It also makes moves like Thunder and Fire Blast became a little scarier, especially if someone throws up a Sunny Day/Rain Dance.
But.. Why would you put a Dragon type against an Ice type? Oh... Because there are a hole bunch of Pokémon with diverse move pools who can learn ice moves! SURPRISE MUTHAFUCKAH!
So when you're catching a Pokémon, base it's move set around its Nature or you might have a bit of a harder time with it...
Running a physical Attacking electric type might not be your best choice...

To sum it all up. You're no longer the Arceus of Pokémon. You can catch them all, sure, but chances are you're going to die before that happens if you're not prepared for a roller coaster of imminent death and destruction!
In addition, these don't always have to be administered to the Hacks. Putting them to play on a regular play through can also give you that added boost of power and make your pseudo legendary make all the legendary Pokémon wet their pants!
