Description
No, I don't know what I was on either, but I assure you it wasn't healthy. My dad liked it, strangely enough.
My Computer Science teacher didn't. He felt that if I was going to spend three consecutive Java classes drawing, I should have spent them drawing something WORTHWHILE.
Like TANKS.
Or MONSTERS.
Or anything but chickens.

I like the mood with all those trees...dark and spooky. The clothes on the two children look very nice as well.
Chickens are the best! *nods furiously*

Pfft, what's he talking about? Chickens are some of the mightiest warriors there are! Sure, a bear can maul you and all, but a chicken is less than a third your size and can still run you ragged and peck your eyes out.
Mighty warriors, I tell you.

But chickens are worthwhile! And they're cute! Tanks and monsters are becoming overrated.

small knob of butter
1 chicken, weighing about 2kg/4lb 8oz
4 rashers smoked streaky bacon, chopped
1 onion, finely chopped
2 carrots, diced
sprig thyme
2 celery hearts, quartered
150ml dry cider (we used Merrydown)
300ml chicken stock
Heat oven to 190C/fan 170C/gas 5. Heat the butter in a large casserole dish and brown the chicken slowly on all sides; this should take a good 10-15 mins. (Be patient, it will pay off later.) Take the chicken out of the dish, throw in the bacon and cook for 3-4 mins until starting to crisp, then add the onion, carrots and thyme and continue to cook for 4-5 mins until the vegetables soften. Stir the celery into the dish, then nestle the chicken amongst the veg, breast side down. Pour over the cider and stock, bring to a simmer, then roast the chicken uncovered for 1 hr.
Turn the chicken the right way up and give it 30 mins more, by which point the legs should be coming away. Carefully lift the chicken from the dish. Check the seasoning of the vegetables and serve with the chicken.
Cook the chicken upside down

Absolutely adorable. I love that chicken in the back who's looking up at the girl. The kid in the front is really cute, I love his little toes and the shape of his hair, and both of their hands look really really good, I'm jealous. I also like the simple but believable clothes designs and all the drapey vines and the free, sketchy feel to the outline.... In fact, I like this so much that I'm faving it.
