No, usually when I use flash on Kiba she turns out to be a big black blob. If I don't use flash you can see all of the gold detailing on her scales.

hmm ok, coz with my fish (mollies a half moon fighter and some guppies and feeder fish) flash really brings out their colours

I use flash with all of my other fish. I'm not really sure how to take good photos of Kiba. So far Ive just settled on not using flash with her. I don't think I really know enough about photography yet

you could try to use a long zoom lens say 55mm-130mm and use flash from far. or even try atmospheric lighting and no flash, its just a matter of experimentation
