Spanish Moss trees are so fascinating. Many different types of tree species in the southern states of the U.S. have such growths of a completely different lifeform, like a moss, or a vine, that helps to sustain and keep the tree alive. I remember, as an idiot kid, visiting Florida and pulling the Spanish Moss from the trees because one, it was fun, and two, I thought I was doing the tree a favor. They weren't leaves so I surmised it must be a growth that isn't wanted. A friendly neighbor of my grandmother's kindly informed me otherwise one afternoon. © 2013-Current.
