Desc: I was looking at my gallery as I reloaded various compositions and I realized how far I had come in my art over the years and how I just...stopped.

Without the guidance of school I just stopped painting, and in time I think I became afraid to draw again. I know I still did figure and character studies, but even those were far and few for me.

I had a discussion with a friend recently about what our dreams were when we were younger and why they changed. I think once I realized most likely as a artist I would never make money as a career, I became disheartened. Not because of the money, but more that wanting to be a artist as a job wouldn't mean much to others I suppose.

I mean, tell people you're a artist and after some initial conversation they switch to another topic, or the conversation feels awkward as they probe into your thoughts. At least for me. Say you are a graphic designer and even then you still get some chuckles. It's not a serious career to most unless you make it big, and I sometimes think I lack that "ZOMG I WANNA BE BIG" mentality.

But I have decided that doesn't matter for now. Whether I choose to continue with art as a career choice or not, I won't let it suffer by the wayside anymore.
