Description
Hades fell in love with Persephone and decided to kidnap her. The myth says that in one of the rare times he left the Underworld, he traveled above ground to pursue her, while she was gathering flowers in a field. The ground to split underneath her and Persephone slipped beneath the Earth and Hades stole her to the Underworld where he made her his wife.Persephoneβs mother, Demeter, begged her brother Hades to allow Persephone to come back to the livings, Hades consulted with Zeus and they both decided to allow Persephone to live on earth for six months each year, while the rest of the time she would be on his side in the Underworld.
Before leaving the underworld, Persephone had been persuaded to eat four seeds of a pomegranate. In ancient mythology, to eat the fruit of oneβs captor meant that one would have to return to that captor or country, so Persephone was doomed to return to the underworld for eternity.

I remember reading this story/myth. Demeter is/was the goddess of growing things and the harvest. For the 6 months a year that Persephone was in the underworld with Hades, Demeter despaired and all of the plants died off. When Persephone returned to the earth, Demeter rejoiced and plants grew again. Thus our seasons were born.
You make a lovely Persephone, but try to avoid being carried off because then we would be deprived of your lovely art work.

You're really cranking them out! Another great one. Keep it up! Loving the purple and red vibe lately.
Do you generally go into creating a photo with a set idea in mind or do you kinda wing it until you get something you like? For example with this one, did you have the idea for Persephone beforehand or did you just happen to have a pomegranate and then decided to see where it could go from there?

A most elegant and powerful depiction of the legend. For the sake of a few seeds so does the earth have its seasons.

This is wonderful. The colours are outstanding and I love the mythology theme and references... I had no idea about the pomegranates in the story but what a photogenic fruit in this context. Lovely, thoughtful work as always

Thank you so much
there is a common thread in not of mythology about people traveling to otherworld and being stuck after eating a single piece of food or drink, the temptation of the fairy food.
