1. Probably because the manga was cut short and the story watered down compared to the first series thanks to executive bickering and that Berry is a threefold hybrid (Human/bunny/cat) making her seem like a Mary Sue.

Wasn't there a seventh Mew Mew girl? And is her animal the 'volcano rabbit' from Mexico? Cute as can be, but critically endangered owing to habitat loss and overhunting. Plus the fact they live on four active volcanoes. Not the BEST choice for real estate!
