The title relates to outward appearance versus personality. Someone may view a plain white rose as boring; it doesn't stand out much. I added a bit of color to the center of the rose to portray a colorful personality. People shouldn't judge what's on the outside, otherwise they'll miss the beauty within.

I used Photoshop CS4 for this. I desaturated the image and used a separate layer for the gradient effect. The bokeh texture was added as an overlay.

This is wonderful! I love rainbow-y things but often they tend to be overbearing. This is subtle and beautiful and uses a rose to boot. It doesn't get much better than that. ^-^

I swear, I've seen this photo manipulation before... or maybe not, it's really hard to tell since I can't differentiate from all the millions I've seen like it.

This isn't really what I would consider art... you didn't do a whole lot but blot in some color. I have never tried photomanip so I don't really have an idea of the skill involved, but I hope you can do better than this.
