Description
I made this as a prize for =dakotadog123 for winning first place in my Water Contest! I got a pageview prize from her once, and challenged her to create someone flying through space. She came up with this beauty:And, now that I owe her a prize, got back at me with the same challenge! Thistle, I hope I did you proud!

Thank you to the wonderful stockers!:

So, I hope my English isn't too bad and you'll understand it. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/sā¦ " width="15" height="15" alt="

Well first the positive things: I really love that idea! It's something different, something original. When looking at it, it's like looking into a vortex of new possibilities, like looking into a vortex of new ideas, of fantasy. I love these colours without defined figures and shapes, it keeps space for the own imagination.
Also that the girl is looking into that swirls of light invites the viewer to do the same as she does.
The combination of the colours is great, it's colourful, but the viewer isn't falling out of the chair because of a "colour-shock". e.deviantart.net/emoticons/w/wā¦ " width="15" height="15" alt="

But know to the negative: The feet of the girl are missing. I don't know, if that's because of the stock picture or not, but that looks a bit strange.
Also are some shadows missing - first at the edges of the whole pictures and also at the girl. Shadows give a depth to a picture and integrate the figures better. Without it, it looks a bit like the girl has been just thrown into the picture. Of course there shouldn't be too much shadows either, but a bit more wouldn't be bad here. Also if you'd made the red at some edges a bit darker, that green light in the middle would have had a better effect.
But overall you've done a very good job here! I think, the viewers of your work won't forget it so soon and keep it in mind for a while. It's really a work you can be proud of! e.deviantart.net/emoticons/w/wā¦ " width="15" height="15" alt="

Wow, my first critique! Thank you so much!
You're right about the feet - the stock image had the girl standing in grass, and there was grass all over her feet. I tried smudging it out, but without toe definition it looked far worse than it does now.
Good ideas with the shadows - you're not the first to point out that my work often lacks shadow and depth, giving it that "green screen" look. I tried to put some shadow in with the girl, but it looked really odd how I did it - it's something I need to practice with.
Again, thank you so much!!

You're very welcome! It was also my first critique.
Well, okay, I know that with the feet, that's really difficult.
But with the shadows there are many possibilities - often it's already okay, when you use a texture above the figure (with lower opacity) or use a darker texture for the edges. I don't know, which program you're using, but at Photoshop there's also a burn tool, for small surfaces it isn't bad. In general there are so many functions you can combine - even I, after several years, don't know everything.

Yeah - I know some methods, I just need to practice them. ^^ I use photoshop (an older one, version 5.0), but I do have all of the tools to do it. Trial and error.

You're welcome! Thank you for the idea! And the . ^^
I'm really glad I did this one. It got me my first critique (!), and it's the first decent manip I've done in a /long/ time, in my opinion. I thinks my dry spell is over!
