Hey, I love this tutorial and am in need of something like the wing harness you made. The tunnels are on the outside of the corset right? How did you manage to hide the structure from view?

No secret engineering there, I just added a piece of fabric that I draped over the cross brace to hide the whole thing from view! Both costumes had a bunch of flowy fabric pieces, so it fit in fine.

Great tutorial! I especially like the idea of creating channels on the corset for inserting the wigs. Much better than jamming a back plate between your skin and corset.

Despite some evidence to the contrary (oh, the things I put myself through for this hobby), I'm a big fan of making cosplay as pain-free as possible! If it's uncomfortable when you put the costume on, it's going to be unbearable after eight hours. I've had surprisingly little trouble wearing corseted wings for a full day of running around a convention.

Wow that's amazing. I was pretty concerned about how long I could last in full size wings. I've done a bit of research on a upcoming cosplay for early next year (Hawkgirl) and I was a bit shocked the cost of feathers (a couple hundred USD for large wings), was it pretty big bill for you as well?

Yeah, feathers can get quite pricey. I probably spent around $150-$200 per set (eep!). Luckily, the rest of the materials were very inexpensive.
