hummmmming.. You got to look at the bright side of life!
Hey..this is a great capture of the main subject..the model. But .. just a matter of opinion - the dof really takes away from the model. I know - lottsa people do the same thing.

Depth Of Field.. with movement it is sometimes used effectively. With portraits it is more or less abused because most people don't understand it and how to use it constructively. Simply.. the foreground.. the character and the background. It is possible get a very good photo capture by ranging a proper DOF so that the clarity is clear between all of the areas even if your general average.
On the flipped side.. do not feel bad about it. if it is to your liking..

oh... I know what is Depth . I just couldn't understend "Dof". Now it's clear. Yeah, i know, i screwed it.

no .. you didn't screw it up.. it's a matter of taste and preference .. if you prefer it that way..
here's a recent example.. notice that there is a happy medium to foreground, character and background. If the background is infinite (visibility) sometimes it is desirable to get and suitable out of focus effect.. anyway..
