Description
My very first feather painting was of a tiger 8 years ago. Now that I've gotten in some practice, I thought I'd give it another try. I'm thinking about not selling this one, but rather keeping it with my first feather, which I still also have, together in a frame. The best thing about this feather is the way that the tiger blends in so much with the feather itself. only about 25% of the tiger's orange hues are actually paint. I left lots unpainted to show through, adding interest and original characteristics to the patterns in the fur. I'm really happy with it

Please take a look at my other work! I have several other feather paintings as well!
Thank you all so much! I will be trying to keep up on answering all of the comments and questions.

I think this is one of the best (if not the best) feather painting I've ever seen. It's very well painted, and the details in the face are just purely awesome. The fact you didn't use as much orange paint as I thought before reading the artist's comment makes it a whole lot more awesome.

This is wonderful.
You should keep it, and do another one in a few years, good way to see your evolution (although I'm thinking it won't get any more awesome).
Or you could give it to me

Out of curiosity how did you glue/fuse the three feathers together? I love the effect and would like to try it. I'm hoping to give it a shot sometime over Christmas break...
Gorgeous work, that was the ideal choice of feather for your subject and exquisite painting! Congrats on the DD it was well deserved!

Thank you for the kind comment! In order to get these feathers to stay together, I mostly used a bit of tape and some paint dabbed between the feathers behind the painted portions. I hope you will give this a try! I'd love to see what you come up with!
Thank you again!

I think I shall! It's a lovely sort of natural technique and I'd love to give it a shot. I'll be looking for feathers from the farm when I'm next over and seeing what I come up with! Thanks so much for the help - I was confused as to how to get them to stay together, but that sounds very simple in comparison to some of my guesses! *smiles*

Amazing detail! Feather painting is beyond me. I love how you incorporated most of the already-existing patterns into your art, it really worked well.
Beautiful.

There aren't many people that do, but you would find that more than you might expect paint on feathers. It's really a challenge, but the results are very satisfying

Simply beautiful. The light usage of orange hues is great for the the highlights and it doesn't take anything away from the piece. I am in aw. This one I wouldn't even sell myself.

And I haven't sold it I still have it in my personal collection. I'm really glad I still have it. I don't own hardly any of the paintings I've done on feathers anymore

Do you plan on doing more? If you do it would be wise to snap a couple of pictures of each one. That way you have a catalog of what you have done.
