Yes, believe it or not, that is Rie Petoriyacowa, the infamous (and in my continuity, former) Golden Delmo. Created by splicing together two frames from her introductory appearance in trial 6 and then tinkering with an image editor, its not a usual angle or mood we're used to seeing her from.

In the OVA, Rie is depicted as an immature loli-themed villainess who goes about her duties with evil childlike enthusiasm and doesn't have much else to her, but as those of you who've talked with me or seen my work probably already know, I hold a slightly darker, sadder interpretation of her. I'm not arguing that she's really some misunderstood angel or anything like that, but the fact that someone as young and bright as her is serving as a henchwoman in some pervert's private army/harem probably indicates that something went very wrong in her life. It's quite possible that she's still in her late or even mid teens during the OVA. If so, why isn't she in some honors program or on some university deans list? Why would her parents have let her just abandon that path and go off and join some madman's harem? Something clearly wasn't right in the Petoriyacowa household.

Also, there is some evidence that Rie's devotion to the Delmogeny might not be entirely rock-solid. She is the only one of the four golden Delmos who is not present during the trial 5 scene where Bianca is assigned to Golden Apple. This may indicate that she is somehow slightly apart from the others - and not in a "good" way either. Moreover, while filming black Delmos get beaten senseless by Aika, her reaction is something akin to "cool! awesome!" Not exactly a strong display of camaraderie. Interestingly, when Aika demands why Rie did everything she did to her, Rie's response makes no reference to Hargen or his mission but rather just simply to advancing the Delmogeny in and of itself, perhaps indicating that she's not quite the Hagen worshipper that some of her superiors appear to be. Finally and most poignantly, Rie is the ONLY Delmo of ANY rank to be shown as hiding and then running away in fear from Aika.

I'm not trying to ruin Agent Aika for you, but the next time you see trial 6 or 7, consider perhaps just feeling a little... pity for Rie.
